Panda Orange Chicken

Orange Chicken Sauce based on Panda Express

Ingredients
  

Sauce

  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Orange Juice
  • 1 cup Packed Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Rice Vinegar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/4+ cup Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Minced Fresh Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp Chopped Green Onions
  • 1/4 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 5 tsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tsp Arrowroot
  • 3 tbsp Water

Instructions
 

  • Combine all of the sauce ingredients – except the cornstarch, arrowroot, and 3 tablespoons of water – in a small saucepan over high heat. Stir often while bringing the mixture to a boil. When the sauce reaches a boil, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool a bit, uncovered.
  • Use 1 cup of sauce to marinate the chicken for a couple of hours.
  • Combine the cornstarch with the arrowroot in a small bowl, then add the 3 tablespoons of water, still until dissolved. Pour this mixture into the sauce and set the pan over high heat. When the sauce begins to bubble and thicken, cover and remove from heat.
